GalaGallait #3

28 September - 1 October 2023

Over the next few years, we invite you regularly to Gala Gallait, our festive weekends at 80 Gallait street in Schaarbeek. We’ll present different small artistic formulas, mostly work in progress, combined with music, expo, food & drinks. Welcome to our house Gallait80 for unexpected discoveries and encounters!

Gala Gallait #3 runs from Thursday 28 september to Sunday 1 october 2023.

Line-up

● After more than 70 performances in Belgium and abroad, including at the Avignon Festival, the cowboys of Tristero & Enervé will finally perform DESPERADO in Brussels, in open air !

● In 2016, Tristero created the performance LEAVE A COMMENT. Based on a video on YouTube – the mirror scene from La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz – Tristero selected and played the comments (and the comments on the comments) underneath. Guided by these comments, Tristero tapped into fundamental themes such as the fragility of art and of free speech. What followed was a dryly comic, sometimes disconcerting portrait of the globally connected YouTube community. Seven years later, Tristero will rework this performance, this time based on another YouTube video.

● Last year at Gallait80, actress Adele Raes did research for a new performance : FRÈNK. She sketches a portrait of her father, a retired climatologist who founded the Museum of Anthropocene Technology (MAT). He collects works that deal with climate change, but above all he creates artworks of his own, hoping they will be fossils of our time that will be discovered in 50.000 years. Despite many attempts to lure people, attendance remains sparse. So why is he doing all this? For whom does he create what he creates? What is his impact? And me, as a young theatre-maker and actress? How many people do I reach with my own work? What do I change?

● Viola player Sigrid Keunen composes, builds and plays RHAPSODY: The chronicle of a swimming pool tiler (for kaleidoscope, voice, sounds & movements), an installation-performance about perception, metamorphosis and structure.

● Viva la fiesta! Viva la noche! VIVA LOS DJ’S! Unrivalled and self-proclaimed duo Aron Wouters & Finn Waters made it their mission to create the most epic pop intervention ever. And so they did. Prepare for a hyperactive, feel-good, over-the-top pop trip that can best be summed up as a megalomaniacal fusion of an act at the Eurovision Song Contest, a pop diva’s world tour and a tour of all the stages at Tomorrowland.

BXL WILD is a Brussels actor’s collective around Circé Lethem, Ina Geerts and Andrea Bardos. Together with Aylin Yay and Kaat Arnaert, they will perform a staged reading of SOUTHSIDE by Norwegian playwright Fredrik Brattberg.
